The media success of Poly 3DP and Poly-Split

3DRap, known for its continuous innovation in the field of 3D printing, has gained media attention with two surprising initiatives: the Poly portable 3D printer and the Poly Split, designed to split a Ceres beer into two glasses simultaneously.

The idea of the Poly Split was born from a casually ingenious experiment. Domenico Orsi noticed the possibility of using the Poly printer to create a device capable of pouring a Ceres into two glasses at the same time.

The initiative quickly gained popularity on social media and among national press outlets, attracting the attention not only of beer enthusiasts, but also of professionals and hundreds of thousands of internet users who re-shared the hashtag #naceres2bicchieri. Ceres, impressed by 3DRap’s innovation, showed interest in the project, paving the way for a collaboration.

Furthermore, the Poly portable 3D printer has attracted enormous interest due to its innovative design and multiple features. Made primarily from biodegradable PLA, this printer not only offers an eco-friendly solution for 3D printing, but also represents a step towards environmental sustainability in the technology sector. Its portability makes it ideal for a wide range of applications, allowing users to carry out projects wherever they are. In addition to traditional printing, this innovative machine can be used to create chocolate objects, thus offering a unique solution for the production of personalized sweets and decorations. Thanks to its laser engraver function, Poly allows users to make precise engravings on a variety of materials, such as wood and plastic. This flexibility is made possible by the interchangeable tools, which can be easily replaced via a magnetic holder. With Poly, the creative possibilities are endless, allowing users to unleash their imagination.

These initiatives have attracted the attention not only of the Italian media, but also of international sources. The combination of technological innovation and attention to sustainability has struck a sensitive chord in the current landscape, demonstrating 3DRap’s potential in shaping the future of 3D printing.

Champions in the Formula X Italian Series and in Formula 2

3DRap achieved significant success in the 2019 Formula X Italian Series championship, the most followed in Italy on social media. The Formula X aims to solidify its position in the motorsport scene by offering a variety of categories, from single-seaters to Touring and GT cars, including electric vehicles. As a technical partner of the SRZ team, 3DRap contributed to winning the championship with driver Adriano Albano, an emerging star in motorsport and former Ferrari Driver Academy driver. This collaboration allowed 3DRap to extensively test its products on the track, developing sim racing hardware that offers immersive and realistic experiences, comparable to real-world sensations.

Throughout the championship, 3DRap formed partnerships with key players in the global sim, gaming, and technology sectors, such as Alberto “Naska” Fontana, Alvise “Blink46” Ciotti, and Amos Laurito. In this context, 3DRap launched the hashtag #fromvirtualtoreal, later becoming one of its flagship brands, highlighting the potential of its products developed directly on the track with real race cars. The 3DRap crew spent an entire year as track engineers, providing a significant boost to the company’s presence in the sim racing peripherals market.

Subsequently, 3DRap continued to strengthen its presence in the motorsport world by supporting Italian driver Matteo Nannini in the Formula 2 World Championship (F2). This commitment brought the 3DRap brand to the most prestigious circuits in the world, confirming the company’s importance in the international motorsport landscape.

Headquarters and Location

3DRap S.r.l. is based in the province of Avellino, Campania, Italy, positioning itself in the heart of a region rich in history and culture, yet oriented toward the future of innovation.

Environmental Commitment

3DRap is committed to environmental sustainability through careful energy conservation in design and production aimed at the use of predominantly recyclable products. Aware that the world we live in is a resource to preserve, 3DRap carefully selects its partners, making it a truly green enterprise.

Renewable Energy

The entire production core of 3DRap is powered by a photovoltaic panel system. This source of renewable energy not only reduces the company’s environmental impact but also demonstrates its commitment to sustainable production.

Recyclable Material: PLA

Another significant step towards sustainability is the use of PLA (polylactic acid) as the main material for additive manufacturing. PLA is a biopolymer derived from agro-food industry waste and is completely recyclable. This material is produced by the Apulian company EUMAKERS, part of the Sregola Materie Plastiche group, a leader in Italy in the production of recyclable plastics. Furthermore, all waste material from FDM 3D printed production is sent to Smashing Plastic, a valid ally in the fight against environmental pollution and in the philosophy of reuse. Smashing Plastic, based in Florence, is a company active in the field of upcycling, which transforms waste into new materials and products, thus promoting circularity and reducing environmental impact. This collaboration reflects 3DRap’s commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its operations and promoting sustainable practices in the 3D printing industry.

Logo Architecture

The name 3DRap is a tribute to “rapid prototyping” and the ReprapWorld community. This term reflects the importance of speed in innovation and the community’s critical contribution to the growth of 3DRap. The first 3D printers developed in-house, with the support of the community, began the production process of the company’s products.

The logo of 3DRap, a visual artwork that embodies the identity and vision of the company, has an intriguing history rich in meaning.

At the core of the logo is an icon based on the Penrose triangle, an optical illusion conceived in 1950 by mathematicians Lionel and Roger Penrose. This complex figure, which appears to form a triangle but is actually an impossible construction, has been transformed and adapted to represent the innovative and futuristic nature of 3DRap. The Penrose triangle has been rotated counterclockwise by 30 degrees and all edges have been highlighted, creating a symbol that is fascinating and intriguing. The logo is the result of the work of Mario Marciano, co-founder of Grafistudio Associati and owner of Marciano&Partners.

The choice to use the Penrose triangle in the 3DRap logo is emblematic of the company’s vision, which is based on innovation, creativity, and the ability to push conventional limits. This complex symbol reflects 3DRap’s unique and distinctive approach in the digital manufacturing and advanced engineering sector.

Next to the icon, we find the name “3DRap” written in a modern and distinctive font called Earth Orbiter Blond. This font adds a touch of modernity and technology to the logo, reflecting the company’s cutting-edge approach. The letters are arranged with care and precision, ensuring optimal readability and a harmonious appearance.

The optical corrections applied to the logo have contributed to improving its overall aesthetics and readability. The space added between the icon and the typography, the elongation of the horizontal strokes of the number 3, and the increase in white space between the letters have made the logo more balanced and coherent.

Regarding colors, the logo uses a Pantone P 112-5c shade, which evokes pure cyan. This color, associated with technology and innovation, conveys a sense of freshness, modernity, and reliability. The use of cyan in the logo emphasizes 3DRap’s commitment to innovation and technological advancement.

Conclusion

3DRap S.r.l. is not just a digital manufacturing company; it is a story of innovation, dedication, and progress. Through its unique identity, founding story, and cutting-edge activities, 3DRap continues to shape the future of Industry 4.0, creating what does not yet exist and offering unique experiences in every corner of the world.
