“Drivers… start your engines!”. The fourth race of the Lan World Endurance Championship on Assetto Corsa also concluded successfully, which saw the riders of the 3DRap Squadra Corse team deal with many difficulties. But it’s just when the going gets tough, that the tough get going. And to work hard to improve performance and continue to achieve extraordinary results.
On the Spa circuit in Belgium: 30 single-seaters, 8 hours of racing, 4 drivers for 3DRap on two cars: the “Red” and the “Yellow”. An endurance that started uphill and continued on and off, that of Saturday 6 May on the Spa circuit in Belgium, one of the best known tracks in the world but also more complete and not at all simple to deal with.
Already from qualifying the first difficulties arose for 3DRap Squadra Corse: with only 10 minutes of time available, the “Yellow” team qualified in fifth place, while the “Red” team stopped only in 12th position, not managing to take advantage of enough free track to set the set time. And, unfortunately, it must be admitted that the bad luck did not end in qualifying.

“Start…”: In fact, on the first lap out of Le Combes, the crew of the “Red” single-seater touched the gravel and spun. Restarting, therefore, from the back of the grid, the team had to redo everything. But true champions like the toughest challenges, and this is how the great experience of professional sim drivers of Giuseppe Muià and Federico Elli came out, who, head down but with a lot of intelligence, began to recover, lap after lap, car after car. Two hours after the start, they were already in third position, to their own amazement at the feat they had accomplished: the start certainly didn’t bode well!
“…Your…”: From that moment on, it was a strategy competition, with FPS Italia and Deko chasing each other and exchanging positions. About an hour and a half from the end of the competition, the last pit and the driver change, in which Federico Elli handed over the driving to Giuseppe Muià, brought the team less than 10″ from first place. Moments that made that of Spa was one of the most felt endurance finals by the whole team, commentators included. In the span of 30 minutes the “Red” managed to mend the gap from the FPS, bringing the Porsche 911 GT3 to less than 2 seconds from the ‘Audi.
“…Engines!”: Thus began the real fight, certainly more mental than physical, with Muià’s champion makings who, between feints and tactical outbursts, made Serafino’s nerves shake (FPSItalia#314) causing him to mistake and thus gaining the top of the GT class. The victory has therefore arrived for the “Red” team, while the crew Max Giachino – Gianluca Rotello of the “Yellow” team was unfortunately heavily penalized by the P1s throughout the race, which led them to various off-tracks up to at the dreaded Drive Through, finishing their race in ninth place.
The victory of Team Red
Despite the difficulties, there is an atmosphere of celebrations at 3DRap, for the victory and for the pleasure of being together, sharing challenges and joys, because the WEL championship has further enriched the social dimension of sim racing and the 3DRap team. with the pilots who do not compete alone at home, but together with the entire team in the simulation center or, as in the case of 3DRap, in the company headquarters. “We thank all the team who followed us live from home – comments 3DRap Squadra Corse -. Especially the team manager Roberto Martorana who, despite the flu, supported Lorenzo Dal Rio (another team manager) and the crews, throughout the duration of the race”, these were the words in the post-race of the Squadra Corse team, ready, as always, for the next races.
And, speaking of upcoming races, the appointment with the fifth and penultimate one of the WEL championship is on June 24th. The Fuji circuit in Japan will host the competition, in view of which the 3DRap Squadra Corse team is already at work studying the track, improving performance and bringing home new victories.
